1st Annual Cookie Taste-Off

This year, Hospitality will be inaugurating what we hope will become an annual party: VCON's Cookie Taste-Off! We invite spirited bakers to make their favorite cookie to meet one of the following categories:

  • Best chocolatey cookie
  • Best non-chocolatey cookie
  • Best use of dried fruit
  • Best vegan cookie
  • Best SF/F theme
  • Best submission by a fan under 22
  • Best non-cookie (because we don't want to limit anyone's contributions to only one form of baked good!)

Cosplay Masquerade

The Cosplay Masquerade is VCON's way of acknowledging just how much our fan community loves a great costume. Whether you think of it as a costuming, cosplay or just dressing up; whether the costume was sewn by hand, pieced together with items bought at thrift stores and garage sales or a little bit of both; whether you become a princess, a pirate or a super hero; the Masquerade is the place where you can strut your stuff.

Weekly SF&F Quizzes

Starting Friday, April 29, 2011 and continuing every Friday until the start of VCON 36 on September 30, 2011, we will be posting science fiction and fantasy themed quizzes for your fun and amusement. The answer key will be left off until the following Thursday, when it will be appended to the bottom of the quiz page.

For each quiz, we invite members of our community to submit their answers to the webmaster — webm{click-to-expand}@vcon.ca {click on the ... to access the full email address} Those who do so, and submit correct answers, will be eligible to win rewards, as specified on each quiz.

Quiz Prize Drawings

The participation in the SF&F Quizes has been good, so we have decided it's time to up the ante a bit so, in addition to earning prestige by being one of the first five to submit correct answers, those who submit answers have the opportunity to earn entries in one or both of two random prize drawings:

  • Quiz Raffle
  • Quiz Winners Circle Raffle

Starting with the quiz posted on Friday, May 27 and continuing with every quiz posted until the start of VCON 36 on Sep 30, 2011, anyone who submits answers to a quiz with a passing mark (i.e., with a score of 50% or better) will earn one entry in the Quiz Raffle. In addition, the winners of each week's quiz (that is, the first five to submit correct answers) will also earn one entry in the Quiz Winners Circle Raffle.

Raffle Prizes

At VCON 36, three names will be drawn from among all the entries for the Quiz Raffle and one name will be drawn from the Quiz Winners Circle Raffle for the following prizes
